Strength. Mobility. Flexibility.
Whether you want to ease back pain or improve your posture, recover from injury – or prevent getting hurt in the first place, Pilates is for you.
Highly qualified, and with years of experience teaching the Pilates method in the UK, the US, and Europe, Nina Haldemann, founder of ND Pilates offers lessons in English or German at her training studio in the heart of Zürich.
No matter your age, gender or level of fitness, Pilates can change your body – and your life.
What is the Pilates method?
Pilates is not so much what you do but how you do it!
The aim of any Pilates programme is to stretch and strengthen in order to develop a balanced, flexible and resilient body. The focus is on coordinated and flowing movements based on breathing and relaxation that strengthen the body’s core, maintain the body’s alignment, and fix the bad habits we all develop over a lifetime.
At nd pilates, Nina evaluates your needs and then works with you to develop a specifically tailored programme that is right for your body and your goals.
Pilates in harmony with your body
Everybody is different, and some of us need a little more help to overcome injury, for example, or develop the body we want. For this reason, nd pilates has a series of partnerships with other professionals to offer a complete, holistic service that will help you achieve the results you want.
Who is nd pilates?
Nina Haldemann is a native Brit who first learnt the Pilates method while training as a contemporary dancer as a teenager. She has taught Pilates for almost twenty years and, after travelling the world, established the nd pilates Studio in Zürich in 2010. Nina has built up a loyal client base in Zürich, at first through classes at Holmes Place and Silhouette Fitness Clubs, and then with private clients at nd pilates. Nina has two main passions in her life - Pilates and tattoos.
Nina has studied with some of the world's leading Pilates teachers including Rael Isacowitz, Susan Pepper of the Swissbody™ Pilates Centre in Geneva, and Lolita San Miguel – one of the few remaining protégées of Joseph Pilates, the founder of the Pilates method.
Nina is the only Swissbody-accredited Pilates teacher in Zürich and a Third Generation Instructor.
Pilates is recognised as one of the most beneficial exercises you can do during pregnancy and after giving birth. Because the core-strengthening exercises help alleviate back pain and improve the condition of your pelvic floor muscles in a completely safe and supported environment, it is recommended by gynaecologists, obstetricians, midwives and doulas around the world.
Nina has worked with many pregnant women and new mothers over the years, and works with a number of gynaecologists in Zürich. With her deep knowledge of all the physical aspects of pregnancy, she can tailor a Pilates programme specifically for you.
If you have any questions about pregnancy and Pilates, please contact Nina directly. However, you should always check with your own doctor before undertaking any programme of exercise while pregnant.
The nd pilates Studio is a light and quiet private studio on Uraniastrasse 14, in the heart of Zürich, at the Studio 14 personal training gym. The studio is equipped with a reformer, exo-chair, balls, arcs and weights. Clients therefore benefit from floor-based exercises as well as machine-based work.
